About NearlyWeds

A calmer way to plan an Australian wedding

NearlyWeds brings Australian wedding venues and vendors together in one place, so you can find, chat with, book and pay the businesses for your day without juggling emails and spreadsheets.

It's free for couples and free for businesses to list. Every business is checked by our team before it appears in search.

From first look to thank-you

  1. Tell us about your wedding

Your date, location, guests and budget shape your search and your checklist.

  3. Chat and request

Ask questions, then send a booking request for your date.

  4. Approve and pay

Once the business approves, pay securely through Stripe.

  5. Celebrate, then review

After the big day, leave a review to help other couples.

Why NearlyWeds exists

Planning a wedding shouldn't feel like running an office

A wedding brings a lot of businesses together: a venue, a celebrant, a photographer, a florist, a caterer and often many more. Each one quotes differently, takes payment differently and has its own rules about refunds. The details end up scattered, and it can be hard to tell what you've actually agreed to.

NearlyWeds gives all of that one home. You can compare real packages and prices, ask questions, request your date and pay, with each business's booking fee, payment due date and cancellation policy shown before you commit and kept on your booking afterwards.

Businesses get the same clarity. Requests arrive with a date, usually with a guest count and package, couples pay through Stripe, and NearlyWeds sends couples their payment reminders, so there's less chasing and more time for the work couples book them for.

Planning often looks like

  • Quotes and questions spread across inboxes and text messages
  • Prices you only find out after you ask
  • Deposits paid in different ways, with refund rules in the fine print
  • Dates, payments and paperwork tracked in a spreadsheet

With NearlyWeds

  • Every conversation with every business in one Chat
  • Packages and prices on listings, before you ask
  • Booking fees and balances paid through Stripe, with a receipt for each one
  • The cancellation policy saved on your booking when you send the request
  • A planning checklist timed to your wedding date

How we keep it trustworthy

Checked, not just listed

A marketplace is only as good as the businesses in it and the way problems are handled. Here's what we do, in plain words.

  • Every business is checked

Before a vendor or venue appears in Browse, our team reviews its listing. If something's missing, we ask for changes and the listing stays out of search until it's approved. Changing a business name or category later sends it back for review.

  • Celebrants checked against the register

We check a celebrant's registration against the Attorney-General's Department register before they go live, and once a year after that. Checked celebrants show a Registered marriage celebrant badge.

  • Reviews only from real bookings

A couple can only review a business they booked and paid in full through NearlyWeds, and only after the wedding. Their name is shown with the review, and the business can reply publicly.

  • Reports go to real people

Couples and businesses can report a business, a review, a message or a person. Every report comes to the NearlyWeds team. When something breaks the rules, we can hide a review, take a listing down or suspend an account.

  • Secure payments through Stripe

Booking fees and balances are paid through Stripe's secure checkout. NearlyWeds never sees or stores your card details, and a business's bank and identity details are handled by Stripe too.

  • Terms you can see up front

Listings show the booking fee, when the balance is due and the cancellation policy. The policy is saved on your booking when you send the request, so later changes by the business don't affect you.

What our team looks for

Every new vendor and venue goes through the same review before couples can find them, and we read the description and look at the photos as well as ticking boxes. We email the business as soon as a decision is made.

Needed before a listing goes live

  • At least 3 photos
  • At least one active package, so couples can see what's offered and the price
  • A service radius for vendors, or a maximum guest capacity for venues
  • For venues, every venue details question answered, from wheelchair access to a wet weather option
  • For celebrants, how they're authorised to marry couples and, unless they only run symbolic ceremonies, a registration number we've checked
  • A logo
  • A valid ABN
  • Stripe connected, so couples can pay through NearlyWeds

A business needs Stripe connected before couples can pay it in the app, so every payment made through NearlyWeds goes through Stripe's secure checkout.

When plans change

If a business cancels
You're refunded everything you've paid, whenever it happens.
If you need to cancel
Your refund follows the cancellation policy saved on your booking, and you see the amount before you confirm.
If a booking goes wrong
Tap Report a problem with this booking. If the business can't deliver, our team can cancel the booking and refund everything you've paid.

Refunds go back to the original card and usually arrive within 5 to 10 business days.

Our values

What we stand for

The ideas behind how NearlyWeds works, and the parts of the app that hold us to them.

  1. Plain words, not fine print

Booking fees, due dates and refund rules are on every listing before you ask. On a booking, the cancellation policy reads in plain words, and you see your refund before you confirm a cancellation.

  2. Fair to both sides

Couples don't pay to use NearlyWeds. Businesses list for free and pay a fee only when a couple pays them through NearlyWeds, and that fee is returned in proportion when a refund is made through NearlyWeds. Each business sets its own terms, and couples see them before they commit.

  3. Trust that's checked

Every business is reviewed before it goes live, reviews come only from couples who booked and paid in full, and our team looks into every report.

  4. Your details are yours

Download a copy of your data or delete your account from your profile whenever you like. A business's phone and email are only shown to people who are signed in, and card payments are handled by Stripe.

  5. Room for every kind of wedding

Weddings in Australia come in every culture, size and style. That's why there are categories for cultural and religious decor, henna and mehndi, and interpreters and Auslan, alongside venues, celebrants and photographers.
